OBD2 app for system data

Is anyone using one of the available apps like Torque Pro, Auto.Pi, etc to obtain detailed system data on their Kona EV? I'd like to obtain current info on battery condition beyond what the vehicle provides on-screen. Information on battery/cell voltage, temperature, kwhs used between charges, kwhs delivered to the battery after charge event, etc. I've been to some websites and watched some YouTubes, but nothing concrete that suggests any app is plug and play. Any knowledge/experience with these types of apps would be appreciated.

I’ve been looking too! Zip other than some Arduino Pi kit thingy... it was useful on my LEAF v1.0 with LeafSpy.

I used a ScanGauge 2 for years in my Ford CMax energi. I contacted the company and received programming special for the Kona Electric. Wonderful that it shows 1 to 2 amps just for sitting there (lights and such), yet also shifts the decimal point to show 150 amps under acceleration, and goes negative for regen. Great! I am also able to watch the battery voltage decline slowly as energy is used. Motor temp shows me how hard the motor is working, yet I can see the temp stabilize as it reaches equilibrium. Interesting that the State of Charge is close to what is displayed on the dash, but not exact. I wonder if there is some algorithm Hyundai uses to tweak the result from what is reported on the bus.

ScanGauge 2 plugs into the ODB port under the left dash. I put it on a piece of velcro on top of my console lid so I can still charge my phone and use the aux input.

After a BMS firmware upgrade, the data-PID response from the BMS has changed slightly, so the old, free "Soul EV Spy Lite" does not display BMS data from cars with the new BMS firmware version.

Engnrng, thank you for your post. I have an old ScanGauge that I used with my Gen1 Honda Insight that I'd like to try on my new used 2020 Kona Electric Ultimate, and glad it can be done. Will contact ScanGauge for the info. Update 6 May 2023: ScanGauge replied, asking me to plug it in and see if it even connects. I did that, but had to change the Mode to CANSF, and the only thing it shows is the 12v battery sitting at 14.7v when the car is turned ON (which is correct). Unfortunately, the ScanGauge turns off after about ten seconds. I've written back to ScanGauge asking them for whatever programs they have for my Kona Electric. Hopefully, having appropriate PIDS(?) will keep the ScanGauge from falling asleep. Update September 2023: ScanGauge responded and offered a free update of my old ScanGauge together with a list of programming steps for our Kona Electric, which I thought was very nice of them. I now have the updated ScanGauge and simply need to take the time to reprogram it and see how it works ... after I come back from an extended Tesla road trip. Stay tuned.
